While arguably it’s easier and quicker to gear up a rogue for PVP than other classes (spare a thought for those poor priests!), it’s still worth making a few investments on, especially when it comes to weapons.
Weapons make the Rogue!
A pair of decent daggers will make quite an impact on your PVP experience. ‘Skills’ outperform ‘gear’, but the burst from dropping a pair of Sinister Revenge into your enemy’s back can’t be sniffed at.
Mainhand Daggers
For the freshly dinged 80;
- The Fleshshaper (Heroic Halls of Lightning)
- Titansteel Shanker (Blacksmithing BOE)
- Traditional Flensing Knife (Kalu’ak reputation item)
- Wodin’s Second-Best Shanker (Zul’Drak quest reward)
For the Naxxramas raider;
- Sinister Revenge (Kel’Thuzad Heroic)
- Anarchy (Kel’Thuzad Normal)
- Twilight Mist (Grobbulus Heroic)
- Knife of Incision (Anub’rekhan Normal)
Offhand Daggers
*Note: the previously mentioned Mainhand daggers can be successfully offhanded*
For the freshly dinged 80;
- Librarian’s Paper Cutter (BOE drop from Halls of Lightning)
- The Interrogator (Occulus Heroic)
For the Naxxramas raider;
- Murder (Sapphiron Heroic)
- Omen of Ruin (Naxxramas trash drop)
- Rolfsen’s Ripper (50 Emblems of Heroism)
Enchants
Mainhand
- Berserking (Prefered)
- Mongoose or Icebreaker (virtually same boost to dps, but large difference in price on many servers)
Offhand
Facing a preparation-glyphed rogue without a weapon chain will see you disarmed for way too long in the first minute of combat. However, double-berserking is being used successfully by several serious rogues so far this season (as evident on the Shadowpanther site) so it can’t be ruled out just yet.
*edit – diminishing returns

Namlaks Supernumerary Sticker isnt a bad starter either
I didn’t see the Sons of Hodir rep dagger. I have been successfully using it as a main hand dagger with the titansteel as my off hand. The Broken Stalactite from SoH rep was really easy to grind after I had tons of extra relics from my other toons.
Grabbing the Fleshshaper soon(2 would be better =P), just hated doing heroics till I had over 300 hit rating, which was my biggest brain freeze after dinging 80 on the rogue.
And blizz expects us pvpers to be able to get to 1800 for weapons with The Fleshshaper and Librarian’s Paper Cutter??
Skill can only get you so far…
Yep it can be a right pain – especially when weapons are so important to rogues. My one rogue has furious weapons from last season, but my other rogue still uses Fleshshaper/Webbed Death. Both rogues are pretty much geared the same, but the difference in damage output is insane :/ It’s still possible to do well, it just takes longer and can be a bit more stressful at times!
how does the Namlaks Supernumerary Sticker stack up against the others listed im new to the class and still trying to figure out why speed and such matter to witch hand
If you’re playing as 41/5/25, aim for two slow daggers. The reason being is that mutilate benefits from the “max weapon damage”. Slow daggers typically hit harder than fast ones – the damage from Mutilate is calculated by taking the max weapon damage of the dagger and adding 161 to it. Slower dagger = bigger mutilate hits.
If you’re playing a 44/2/25 type build, it may be worth using a fast offhand. Your mutilates will hit for less, but you’ll have more chance of proccing deadly poison with your offhand.
